Born in Osaka. I'm a master's student at JAIST, researching interpretable personalized image aesthetic assessment (PIAA). What counts as a good photo differs from person to person, so I'm building AI that does more than return a score: it explains why an image works for you.
I started out in an undergraduate IoT track, building embedded systems with sensors and microcontrollers. My interest shifted to the UI/UX that users actually touch, then to web and native apps. These days I keep widening what I can build alone, from the application core down to infrastructure and databases.
Research was new territory. Teaming up with a senior PhD student right after enrollment, I built a cross-domain aesthetic dataset rated by 129 participants within about a year and published it as an arXiv preprint (second author). On a separate line of work, comparing orchestration strategies for AI code review, I presented as first author at a domestic workshop (JSAI SIG-AGI).
In parallel I worked as a software engineer at a startup, often owning everything from technology selection and architecture to implementation and operations. Since September 2026 I have been working as a freelance software engineer on contract projects. I also build all my own research tooling, so what I learn in development flows straight into my research.
Lately I'm deep into AI agents: orchestrating several of them and teaching them my workflows as reusable skills, so that research, client work, and even daily chores can be delegated.
I work flat-out today on structure and automation so that tomorrow can be lazy: turning one-off tasks into systems that make things easier for me and everyone around me.

A line-of-business system that replaces a construction company's spreadsheet-based daily reports. It keeps working on sites with no signal, and warns before overtime breaches the statutory caps that reached the industry in 2024, evaluating all five of the two- to six-month rolling averages rather than the six-month one alone.
An experiment platform that serves a research human evaluation to Prolific participants, designed and built solo. One Worker runs four studies (two datasets × two tasks) side by side and assigns each participant exactly one evaluation set, exclusive across all four studies. It handles resuming interrupted sessions, attention checks indistinguishable from real trials, and an admin dashboard for watching the data come in.
The benchmark harness behind the SIG-AGI paper (see Publications). It synthesises defective code by inverting bug-fix commits, runs models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google under identical conditions, and measures what each orchestration shape costs and finds.
A DJ tool that tells you before you leave whether the tracks on your USB stick will play on booth gear, and converts only the ones that will not. Compatibility is checked against a table transcribed from the manuals of ten Pioneer DJ and AlphaTheta players. The CLI and the GUI share one core.
A command-line tool that turns a recording of a Japanese meeting into a speaker-attributed transcript and minutes. No audio, transcript, or summary ever leaves the machine. Twenty minutes of meeting takes about thirty seconds.
A reading tool that cuts long text into pieces small enough to take in at a glance and shows them one at a time, so the eye stays in one place instead of travelling along a line, with sentence-level jumps for looking back.
My master's research is on interpretable personalized image aesthetic assessment (PIAA). What makes a photo good differs from person to person, yet existing aesthetic-assessment models only return a score without explaining why. I am building models that adapt to each individual's taste and explain the reasoning behind each assessment in a human-readable form. The use case I have in mind is photo triage: picking the best shot from a pile of near-duplicates, with reasons, according to your taste.
As groundwork, I reproduced PPA (CVPR 2026), the aesthetic model my work builds on, from the paper alone and matched its reported accuracy (SRCC 0.917). I was also second author on XPASS-Vis, a cross-domain PIAA dataset spanning art, fashion, and scenery, and the annotation platform used to collect it is something I built myself (see Projects).
A second line of work asks how an AI code review should be put together. The number of agents, the way they are arranged, and how many times they are run all change both the bill and the number of defects found, so instead of guessing I measured models and configurations exhaustively and drew the cost-versus-detection Pareto front. Running a cheap model several times finds more defects than running a premium one once. This was presented as first author at the 33rd JSAI SIG-AGI meeting.
JSAI SIG-AGI 33rd meeting (SIG-AGI-033-07, first author). Compares orchestration configurations for AI code review across 12 models and 4 configurations, and reports a cost-versus-defect-detection Pareto analysis showing that repeated runs of a cheap model outperform premium models run once. The same work was also presented at the Matsuo-Iwasawa Lab (University of Tokyo) and the AGI Research Center (Chiba Institute of Technology).
